Storkcraft Crib Recall - November 2009

Stork Craft Crib Recall Information

This week the CPSC announced the voluntary recall of 2.1 million Stork Craft drop side cribs. We know that every parent's top priority is to keep their baby safe and a massive crib recall can cause parents to worry about the safety of their own baby's crib, whether it is part of the recall or not. That's why we feel it is important to provide detailed information about the Stork Craft recall, along with crib safety, to assist our customers with all of their questions and concerns.

Crib Safety: We wish to assure our customers that all cribs sold in the US are very safe and must be certified by the CPSC, meeting all US safety standards. Many cribs also receive a JPMA certification. Read more about each safety certification at the links provided above.

Stork Craft Recall Information: The voluntary recall involves Stork Craft drop-side cribs and Stork Craft drop-side cribs with Fisher Price logo that come with plastic hardware on the drop-sides. The unfortunate incidents reported by the CPSC appear to have been caused by broken plastic parts, incorrect assembly or drop sides that were installed upside down. Read the full CPSC Stork Craft Recall Report for more information. You can also learn more on StorkCraft's Twiiter page or StorkCraft's Facebook page.

***No Stork Craft static-side cribs or drop-sides with metal hardware were involved in this recall. Plus, no other drop-side cribs by other manufacturers were part of this recall.

Recommendations: If you are an owner of one of the recalled cribs, stop using your crib immediately and contact Stork Craft to receive your free repair kit. The free repair kit provides you with the hardware you need to transform the crib's drop-side into a static side, with no moving parts. The Future of Drop-Side Cribs: Due to this Stork Craft recall and previous recalls of drop-side cribs, manufacturers are phasing out cribs with drop-sides and replacing them with static-side cribs. This change has been happening for some time now in order to eliminate the hazards that can occur due to incorrect drop-side assembly.

We, at Simply Baby Furniture, are dedicated to providing our customers with answers to all of their baby furniture questions and will continue to provide important industry information pertaining to baby furniture and baby safety.
