Bring the Walls of Your Baby's Nursery to Life

By Kim Proulx

A baby's nursery is one of the most important places in your home. In the months leading up to baby?s arrival, many parents spend an extensive amount of time planning and creating the look of their baby's nursery. From shopping for furniture to choosing the perfect baby bedding, there is an endless number of decisions to be made. For a child, the nursery that is once a place for an infant to rest quickly becomes the room of a toddler. One element that can sometimes be overlooked, or underrated in terms of where parents focus their attention when designing a nursery is the walls.

Hanging Baby's Name:

Wall Decoration with Letters

One very popular option for decorating your walls is hanging the letters of your baby's name or letters of the alphabet on the wall. Wooden or fabric letters can be painted with creative colors and patterns and designed to coordinate with the rest of your nursery. Staple beautiful ribbon or yarn to the tops of the letters and tie them to a nail or hook above your baby's crib, above a bookshelf or elsewhere in your baby's nursery. If you're not that creative then consider getting some alphabet wall art like the Lambs & Ivy Park Avenue Wall Decor that features the letters A,B,C in a variety of beautiful colors and patterns, with ribbons up top for hanging. This type of wall art helps you introduce your baby to the concept of letters at an early age.

Family photos:

Family Photos

Your child will love learning the faces of her different family members and the stories about where each came from. In the early years of a baby's life, exposure to faces for learning is recommended. Choose frames that are mismatches, vintage, matching, colorful, classic, the list goes on. They could be arranged in a cluster, in a row, in a box, there are lots of options. Choose photos of the baby's immediate and extended family and even consider adding photos of baby, or pregnant mommy. You could get something like the Trend Lab Cowboy Baby Frame Set that adds artistic flair to the room while also allowing you to display beautiful family photos in the decorative frames.

Wall art:

There are so many options for wall art in your child?s bedroom. Some ideas include posters, large canvases or other hanging art pieces of wall art, many of which will coordinate perfectly with a bedding collection. Sticker art has also become popular these days, peel to stick them on and easily peel them back off. Popular choices for what?s featured on the art are animals, cartoons, positive phrases and more. Borders placed mid-level or at the top of the walls are also a great choice. Wall art can be an easy way to create lots of interest and variety in your child?s room to keep her captivated.

Murals:

Painting a mural on your child's wall is a great way to create an enchanting nursery. The mural can cover as much or as little wall space as you?d like making it a great solution for your baby's nursery. Popular ideas for murals include trees with or without hanging fruit, grass with lady bugs and flowers, under the sea with coral and fish, the sky with sun and clouds, or a beach scene with sand and palm trees. As you can see there are lots of wonderful options for decorating the walls of your child?s room so that they are far from bare. Your baby will love looking at the items or paintings on the wall and will be able to start focusing as her eyes develop more and more. Soon the things on her walls will guide her off into dreamland and greet her when she wakes up.
