I means that the crib can be a standard crib, daybed with rail, toddler bed without rail and a full size regular bed. I believe you can buy and attachable changing piece for this crib. My daughter has a separate changing table that has drawers like a dresser and the changing table on top. The DaVinci Kalani line, I think, is very nice. I hope this helps.

We had read reviews that it scratches easily when putting it together - we had no problems with that. But to avoid that we put a blanket down on the hardwood floor before assembling.
Another complaint we read was the exposed hardware, but regardless it still looks nice and a hardware store might even sell caps to cover it up.
