Ask a Question

QUESTION: Hi, I really love the look and design of this crib. However, I noticed when looking at it in a store recently that there are cutouts/divets about midway up each of the 4 corner posts. It looks like these would be hidden when the crib is in its infant (highest) position, but when you lower the mattress and then use it as a toddler bed, these look like they could be a hazard where the child could hit or scratch his head (as they look rather sharp and beak-like).

I'm curious: Has this has been an issue for anyone, especially for those who've had the crib long enough to have their child grow into the toddler versions?

I really appreciate any and all advice! Thanks so much. by Elissa M 11/15/2013
ANSWER: My son is almost 21 months old, and I actually hadn't even noticed those cutouts until you mentioned them. His mattress has been in the lowest position for the better part of a year, and we've had no trouble at all. by K A 11/18/2013

ANSWER: My son is now 19 months and he has been sleeping in this crib since he was a newborn. While we don't have the toddler rail on yet we do have the mattress at its lowest setting. I remembered when we lowered it having the same concerns as you, but when I read this email I had to go back and look at it again to remember what the cutouts/divets looked like. So to answer your question, no they have not caused us any problems! I am very happy with the quality of this bed and plan to use it through the full setting and we will be putting his toddler rail on after Christmas.
I hope this helps! by Carrie P 11/18/2013

REPLY: No problem :) by Carrie P 11/19/2013
ANSWER: We have loved our crib, and due to the height and mobility of our soon to be 1-year old, we have had to lower the crib to its lowest position. She has not hit or scratched her head at all. The cutouts have not posed a problem to us in the slightest. by Erin W 11/18/2013
QUESTION: This might be a crazy question, but I am trying to convert my daughter's bed to the toddler bed and in the directions it does not show how to assemble the front posts. My hubby just had a kidney transplant and is unable to help me out assembling the bed. My daughter's bed's front posts came attached and are not removable. I don't see anywhere to purchase the posts and the toddler rail is the only thing included to convert to a toddler bed .... Am I missing something?

Thanks for the help! by Kristen S 11/12/2012

QUESTION: is this crib easy to build and set up? I am a single mom to be. by Customer S 4/20/2012
ANSWER: I presume as easy as any other crib. I put it together myself, but an extra set of hands would be useful if available. They give you all the hardware and tools you need, but it can be tedious as there is not much sPace to turn some of the screws. Just make sure to take your time and setup on a soft surface to avoid making scratches. It's a beautiful crib. We are very happy with the purchase. by B O 4/27/2012
ANSWER: Yes! We had it set up in no time and all tools needed for the job were included. I love, love, love this crib! It is simple and stylish and beautiful. by K A 4/24/2012
ANSWER: Yes, it is fairly easy to put together. My husband did most of it himself but I would have been able to manage. The only problem is that you have to hold one side up while you screw it into the back of the crib.

My only issue with the crib is that it nicks very easily. The wood is very soft so you kinda have to be careful. My toddler was playing in it (we got it for our newborn) and he banged a toy along the front rail and now there are marks.. Poor kid, didn't even get into the crib before it was damaged. Oh well. by M A 4/24/2012
ANSWER: not too hard to build but you will need an extra set of hands. some thigns need to line up and you may need a person to help hold sides up, etc...

but overall pretty simple to assemble and very study. however, i'd reconsider the color / finish perhaps even the designer. i tried those plastic protector things to keep baby from chewing on it but the moisture from the plastic ruined the finish. once i took them off the finish is already coming off and it just looks ugly. it's all normal wear and tear, us leaning over, baby pounding on it (how hard could that be) and yes chewing. but the finish isn't as durable as they claim and on dark brown the light scratches show up very easily. hope this helps. by J O 4/24/2012
ANSWER: My husband said it was pretty easy to put together, and he had the "help" of our six-year-old son. I think the hardest part was getting it out of the packaging that helped get it here without a scratch. by K A 4/24/2012
ANSWER: Very easy!! Only 4 pieces, may have a little trouble holding the pieces together but other than that you should be fine!! by Carrie P 4/24/2012
ANSWER: it is very easy to put together I highly recommend this crib, its beautiful well made but you will need to ask a girlfriend or a friend to come help you, it's a 2 person job. but you don't need to be mechanically inclined. by Heather W 4/24/2012
